California-based investment banker Richard Waterfield serves as co-chairman and CEO of The Waterfield Group, an investment management firm operating in industries ranging from finance to technology. With over three decades of experience in the finance industry, Richard Waterfield guides The Waterfield Group in its mission to buy and build well-run American businesses.
The Waterfield Group recently acquired the building complex in Roanoke, Indiana, that used to be occupied by American Specialty Insurance. In the past 30 years, with the long-standing commitment of the Eshelman family, Roanoke has seen a renaissance, and the small American rural community has become known nationwide. The Eshelmans established their sports insurance company in Roanoke, which went on to sponsor the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, drawing attention to the small Indiana town. After selling their company in 2005 and vacating the office space, the Eshelmans were looking for the right tenant that could fit in with the culture of Roanoke and that would contribute to its future. The Waterfield Group is committed to continuing the work of the Eshelman family to further the prosperity of Roanoke by promoting the Midwestern values and Hoosier Hospitality that Mr. Waterfield was drawn to in making this purchase.
